The term "Security Policy" is quite generic and may mean different things in different organizations.
It is mentioned in the context of telework only as a reminder that various policies and procedures
related to security should be reviewed to see if they need to be amended to incorporate telework.
Security policies may be designed to protect the integrity, confidentiality and availability
of information assets and resources. Topics addressed may include an electronics communication or acceptable
use, network access, data backup and archiving, records retention, work on inventions or patents, or
other trade secrets. In many cases these topics are addressed in separate policies, which together
for an organizations security policy.
Remember all such policies should be reviewed from time to time to see if updates are required. The
introduction of telework may be a good time for such a review.
Security policies apply to everyone, not just teleworkers, so be sure to notify all employees of changes.
