Is a Formal Program Necessary?

Building a Telework Program

For a telework program to be successful it needs the support of top management. Even the definition of what "successful" means to top management should to be clarified. This is discussed in greater detail on the Define Management Support page.

Regardless of management's goals, there will most likely be concerns about the risks and costs associated with initiating telework in the organization. Even in organizations that have allowed informal "work at home", there may be concerns about creating a formal program that involves a larger number of employees. The links from this page (left) address many of these concerns and create a starting point of discussion within management and among management and the telework project team. In addition, you should review the toolkit's discussion of Workplace & Legal Issues.

The article's from ASEA and CIO.com are recommended for any executive considering implementing a telework program.
