Tips for Success

Setting up a Home Office

In addition to having work that can be done from home and a place at home to work, teleworkers tend to have certain work skills and work habits. Teleworkers need to be able to adjust to changes that may occur when they start teleworking. Teleworkers need to be flexible, adaptable, and willing to lean new technologies and methods of communication. The toolkit includes a self-assessment form to help you think about these skills (which ones you are good at and which ones you may need to improve) and issues (how you will deal with them). Use the link to the right to download a print (pdf) version of the self-assessment form. Your manager may want you to bring it when you discuss teleworking.

Note: Your employer may have developed a self-assessment form of their own that you will need to use.
